Ken offers a very unique view of The Parthenon replica in Nashville, Tennessee. This is a FULL-scale recreation of the ruins in Athens, Greece. It was built in 1897 as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Why? Because at the time, Nashville had the nickname: “The Athens of the south”. Today the Parthenon, which functions as an art museum, stands as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, a large public park just west of downtown Nashville. The statue of Athena Parthenos is inside, and is a reconstruction of the long-lost original. Here’s what she looks like:
