I would’ve just brought it back to any point of land then walked there to retrieve it. Executive call. I’ve learned not to mess with Mother Nature

dont blame it on the drone, when this is %1000 pilot erros, should never go against the wind

There's gotta be a hack to bypass the limited power safety mode in the drone.
Come on you geeks, get this shit hacked o we can put the peddle to the metal and make it home

You should have dropped altitude and flew back under the wind! You lost your drone due to stupidity and pilot error!

Almost mine last night due to wind at 380m I had it in return to home seemed like it wasn't going to make it I put it back in sport mode took over and got it home

Looks like you're flying into the wind so it's forcing the drone to use more power if I heard correctly you're using sports mode which uses even more power. It's basically user error because you can't blame weather conditions as nature is always changing. I'm sure there are a number of things you could have done and since you started the video saying you wished you had the Mavrc3 I'm sure this would have happened also since that is heavier. The middle ground is needed as not everyone wants a $2500 drone

this was a really touching and well made video 🙁 you made your drone's death into a cinematic funeral
happened to me before, yet with a different drone, lacking gps and any sort of safe features. went out to sea and never found it again.

This is nothing related with the wind or water. It is clear a drone or battery bug. Happened to me two weeks ago, no wind, no water, 200 meters distance, 100 meters altitude, more than 20% battery and I got a battery warning. It jumped suddenly to 6%. Fortunately I was able to bring it over me and catch it during the emergency landing. I suspected the battery is damaged so I charged it and let the drone hover 1 meter from the earth. The emergency landing started after 32 minutes, so I completely lost the trust in this drone.

The drone has hit turbulent air and using lots of power trying to keep altitude while flying into a lot stronger head winds which is also depleting power. Just a theory from a hang glider pilot.

thanks for sharing this. I can tell you I was transfixed watching this. Every drone owner can sympathize with this . the irony of course is that the drone with less technology made it, while the newer model didn't. I just purchased the air 2S and sold my Air 2 and sometimes wonder if I should have kept my air 2 . It was so good. Dis you have the refresh ? that the first thing I do.

I managed to watch this once. But I cannot watch it again as I'd be too tearful. Could see this join my Galaxy s8 in the toilet pan. I have a cunning plan, Phil, to "effect" obstakle avoidance using my Mini 2. How cool is that?

Please don't take this as a criticism but your radio voice is hard to listen to… You make good videos and images, stick to that. Great content but if you want a radio voice hire one, they are cheap enough. 🙂 Keep up the good work though.

ouch u should of put it in sport mode and full throttled back. rule of thumb low battery give urself enough time with higher percentage to return home especially in windy conditions and especially when flying around water. 💧

Hate that, there are apps that can tell you how to fly safely in wind ect.

As I own both air 2s and the mini and the mavic 3 flymore combo. I can say undoubtedly the air 2s is still the better drone overall.

I would bet there was some issue with the drone unless the wind was blowing over the speed the drone can fly. But I was flying today with gust @ 33.6 mph and still had no issues.

Rule of thumb fly out against wind fly back with it. In strong winds in upper altitudes fly 20ft off the ocean or less waves permitting.

Hope ya like your mavic 3 lol I regret spending the money on it dji really screwed me on the price

Mate, WOW! No offence mate but clearly a lack of common sense. Don’t fly your drone nearly 2 miles out at sea and expect it to fly back against a strong wing and then blame the drone? Again common sense, why didn’t you fly it diagonally and low?

Sorry dude! I know the feeling but it came out okay in my case. I sunk my P4 Pro in the river (cold). But I was able to locate it, dive it out and after 3 months the beast started to work again. Of course, this was the sea and even if you found it, it wouldn’t work (salt). I got me Air 2s a few weeks ago and hope something similar will not happen to me again! 👍🏻

You see this all the time on U Tube. I hate to say it but total user error. The drone only did what it did because your friend killed it into the wind. It’s usually the same story. Flew out great with the wind hit a massive higher up wind zapped the battery spinning the motors twice as hard. Pilot never turned around in time, never lowered altitude and ignored strong wind warning on mini2. Combination of errors. You can see how rough the sea is.?Sure it’s calmer where you are but again 35% battery out to sea. Yes it is to bad. And yes this does happen a lot your not the only one, your one of many. RIP drones all over the bottom of the sea.

Recommend you test out the Air 2S Rescue Jacket at Phatnomrain , its amazing and keeps your drone afloat on the water.

Hey man, I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm here thinking what I'd have done different. I too pilot an Air2S – After getting the initial warning I would have tried finding a sweet spot where altitude is concerned, with less cross winds, ONLY engaging sport mode immediately to quickly ascend, then quickly switch back to normal mode to reduce the strain of the motors as you return to home or even back to land (which ever path had the least resistance). If I happen to yous sport mode to assist on the return, id be toggling it, but not staying in it the entire time. Just momentary bursts to cover some ground. You literally weren't far off from shore in my opinion. The Air2S does handle wind well IMO so its just about patience and strategy..

having the good papers to fly a drone out of sight doesn't mean the person is a good pilot. It's very easy to get those papers and pass the test. It's better to look how long someone has had experience flying drones. You could probably fly just as good (or bad) as the pilot in this video.

I have the dji air 2s it’s an awesome drone. If you fly too far out, you better fly on sport mode, get to you destination quickly, then have more than 50% so you can make it back in those headwinds. Adding floaties to your landing gear woul’ve helped with recovery!!
    This was 100% pilot error!

I took my Air 2S about 500 meters ( deep sea, I don’t know if 500 meters counts lol as deep sea )

But I chickened out and got it back home …

The wind was normal and the Air 2S is rock solid in moderate level winds …

Anyways for you … once bitten twice shy …
